My nose is all blocked up too and im coughing up blood, i asked for an op to remove them but i was refused cos i have other health problems. I also seem to get a kidney infection right after tonsillitus or sinus probs is this linked. My doc is useless.

I also used to get tonsil problems regularly. I avoided having them out as they are the first line of defense against infections going to your lungs.

I always used to get them if i was run down, had a few sleepless nights or didn't look after myself properly. As soon as i cleaned up my diet and got a few good nights sleep, my immune system just kicked the infection into touch and i've never had the problem since.

If i feel a sore throat coming on i just eat a few extra oranges, have a hot bath and go to bed early with a couple of paracetamols - works every time for me.

If you're not a healthy person anyway, then having your tonsils out will just mean the infection won't get caught until it goes onto your chest and that's way worse.

get a 2nd opinion, you may be suffering from Quincey's, they are like abscess's that form at the back of your throat. if you have had repeat episodes of tonsillitus you should be seen by an ent specialist. you need to be taking an anti inflammatory pain killer and a high dose of penicillin or some other kind of antibiotic. get to the docs

I doubt very a lot no matter if that's tonsillitis - through the sound of it that's probable a migraine, if it were tonsillitis you would have a severe throat an infection that is unmistakable, yet I do concede that i'm no known practitioner and also you do have the right to assert "What the hell did you realize!" so I propose that earlier you eat each and each and every of the painkillers bypass to ascertain a real known practitioner. through how in case you do have a sore throat, attempt licking ice-cream which will soothe it. ideal needs!

If you're repeatedly getting tonsillitus then it's worth asking your doctor again if you can get them removed. If your doctor says no, ask at reception to see a different doctor to get a second opinion.

Removal of tonsils isn't as common as it used to be, but it can help. My sister kept getting it, she eventually had her tonsils removed and has been ill far less frequently since.

A tonsillectomy is hard to get on the NHS. It does not surprise me that you've had trouble getting one done as doctors try not to refer anyone for tonsillectomies anymore and those that do have to wait in horrendous queues for operations. I get persistently bad tonsillitis which I then have to take antibiotics for, which my body hates, leading to all kinds of other illnesses as side effects.

If you can afford it, or if you're in a health plan, a private tonsillectomy can cost anything from £2,500 upwards, depending on where you go. Try Bupa's website www.bupa.co.uk, they may offer reduced treatment for members.

In UK, indication of tonsillectomy is
if you had5 or more episodes of confirmed tonsillitis
2ndly if your ever had quinsy, that's peritonsillar abscess, or swelling /pus behind your tonsils
3rdly if you have been off work constantly or missing school a lot because of tonsillitis, otherwise nobody will do tonsillectomy and especially if you had other medical problems

I had mine removed about 13 years ago...i was lucky really coz I know they rarely do it now.

Keep trying with different medical opinions. You should get help from somewhere.

Good luck, get well soon!
