In my experience, Lantus didn't quite do the trick for me. My diabetes educator said that despite the company's claims of no peak, 24-hour steadiness, that their 24-hour was actually plus or minus 10 hours! That means your Lantus could last for anywhere from 14 hours to 34 hours! And if you gave it within that 34 hours if that's what it decided to last, then you could have a reaction.
Since I've been on the pump (2 months) I have only had hypoglycemic convulsions twice. I was having them 2-4 times a week prior to that.
YMMV, and I'm in total agreement about not having to go to messy, dirty bathrooms just because someone is squeamish about a teeny little 1/2 inch long needle!!! (I'm also on Symlin, so I'm still shooting that up at meals.)

It took me about two years to cave in and agree to go on the pump. I was taking 6 shots a day and like you, doing all the associated finger sticks. I just couldn't reconcile myself to being "tied to a machine". Now that I have had the pump for about 15 months, I have to tell you that I could have kicked myself for being so stubborn and not going on it when it was first suggested. it is an absolute God send as far as I am concerned. My control is better because I am getting my basal insulin delivered constantly, I don't have the huge bruises and sore spots on my abdomen that prompted my OB/Gyn to ask if my husband was hitting me, and I have so much more freedom to eat when I like and not when the injection schedule says, eat. Yes, there is a learning curve when you first get started, and it can seem overwhelming those first 2-3 weeks while you get adjusted, but you will be so happy that you gained the freedom that making that choice affords.

Insulin pumps are NOT better for everyone. It's an individual choice and some people can have great control on MDI. Personally I'd rather have a computer tethered to my butt than shooting up every single time I choose to put something in my mouth ; )

Insulin pumps are less of a hassle, but unfortunately they do not have an insurance approved pump that measures your glucose level and automatically provides the appropriate amount of insulin yet. My boyfriend is diabetic and uses an insulin pump. It's much more convenient to pull out your pump when your out in public and simply plug in how much insulin to give your body, as opposed to having to excuse yourself to go manually give yourself insulin via i, manual injection.

High blood levels of glucose can cause several problems, including frequent urination, excessive thirst, hunger, fatigue, weight loss, and blurry vision. However, because type 2 diabetes develops slowly, some people with high blood sugar experience no symptoms at all. How to treat diabetes naturally https://tr.im/KfVg2
Symptoms of type 1 diabetes:
Increased thirst
Increased urination
Weight loss in spite of increased appetite
Fatigue
Nausea
Vomiting
Patients with type 1 diabetes usually develop symptoms over a short period of time, and the condition is often diagnosed in an emergency setting.
Symptoms of type 2 diabetes:
Increased thirst
Increased urination
Increased appetite
Fatigue
Blurred vision
Slow-healing infections
Impotence in men
If you think you have diabetes i think you should have a checkup and speak with your doctor just in case.

I think it's easier to whip out a syringe and shoot up than have a computer tethered to my butt. I don't need to excuse myself. I lay low and don't make a spectacle of it, but I'm not going in to a germ laden restroom because others are squeemish about needles.
