HPV stands for the Human Papilloma Virus and there is NO cure. HPV is passed through skin-to-skin contact during sex. The closest thing there is to a cure right now is your own bodies ability to fight it off. Your immune system can fight it off into a "remission" of sorts, or into a dormancy. If the virus is non-active it will not hurt you. However, all it takes is a weak spot in your immune system for it to come out and play again....this can happen YEARS later.

The good thing is the vaccine Gardasil has just been approved for use in females ages 9-26 that are not yet sexually active. It has proven to be effective for up to 5 years, any longer than that time will tell. I think we still have a lot to learn about the vaccine since it is just in the beginning stages.

Here's some great links about HPV and the vaccine:

HPV is human papilloma virus. There is no cure, but currently there is a vaccine that prevents the most common strains that cause cervical cancer. It needs to be given before one is sexually active, because after that, you have already been exposed. In 90% of cases the body's immune system will get rid of it. It is important that you get yearly pap smears to check for any cervical changes associated with having HPV.

HPV=Human Papillomavirus, or Genital Warts. There is no cure, although for many women, the warts go away on their own over time.

However, about 1/3 of the strains of HPV that can cause cervical cancer over time. That is why it is vital for any woman who is sexually active to have Pap Smears on a regular schedule, to detect any changes to the cervix and allow for early treatment.

Go into Google.com, 'images', then put in HPV. You'll get a bunch of pictures of what HPV looks like in both men and women.

Human papilloma virus:

The only cure that may be an accurate cure is your own immune system.. Keep yourself very healthy; vitamins, excercise, eat right.

People dont realize this, but almost 80% of sexually active people have HPV. When the virus is not active, they cannot detect it... It's not the worst STD in the book, and my belief is your immune system can and will, in time, beat the virus...
