Actually, flatulence can be caused by:

excess intake of air into the gastrointestinal tract by mouth (aerophagy - 90%)

production of gases from foods within the intestines (10%)

Have a look at the wikipedia page - they have a good page on flatus and discuss the ways of treating it.

The way to fix flatus is:
eat in a different manner - go slowly and do not bolt your food.
eat certain curries and japanese seaweed (nori)

Eat pro-biotics (yeasts) or try activated charcoal tablets in the first instance. Read through the wiki page if you want to go further.
