You're in luck because there is just a test at the pharmacy. You need to ask for it because they keep it locked up behind the pharmacy counter.

There was a home HIV test kit on the market for several years in the U.S. It was removed because of the fears about people being tested HIV positive and than not receiving any counseling.

They do. It's called HomeAccess HIV-1 test kit. It costs around $59.95. You prick your finger and place droplets of blood on a paper card. Then Fedex the card in the prepaid envelope to the lab. You then call in with a pin number to get your results.

No tests are approved by the FDA that allow the person to test their own specimen and interpreat their own results. Beware of other "at home" tests. They are not accurate if they are not FDA approved!!

Because timing of the sample is the issue here, it should be performed at the lab where it can be analyzed quickly....and results given quickly. Sure you can find out in a week with at home tests, assuming your sample made it in the mail

there are kits, you usually have to mail them in though. some carry them, if they dont carry it you might have to ask them to order one for you. there is a cheek swab test that can be done at Dr's offices or places like planned parent hood though for only like $10-25
