would you go thru the trouble of closing the lid? naw. that would just make them hungry for cake and pastries. i usually leave everything open and when the jar is empty, ask the hand to simply replace what they eat. sometimes people need to eat and kindness goes a long way - yup, even in this ol world. would u do the same?

Since I am the hand that has to replace, Its not a problem. The only ones raiding a cookie jar in my home are 7 and 9. We make days to bake together so they enjoy it too. We set the rules on when they can have a snack from there. When we go to the store, they can pick out the next ones to go in the jar.
