I never could smell the smoke on my breath when I was a smoker. Once I stoped smoking my sense of smell returned and I could smell a smoker a mile away. It is really amazing what cigrattes destry on our body. We have trouble smelling, tasting and breathing from one little stick!

I am a smoker but I don't smoke a pack of cigarettes a day- only max 8 cigs per day. HOWEVER- I can admit that on days I do smoke more than I usually do my breath does smell. Hence the reason why I always have gum or breath mints on me. SO I can only imagine that people who smoke a pack a day have to realize that their breath is RANK.

When people have been smokers for a long time, especially heavy ones, then over time their sense of smell becomes dull ( one of the side effects of smoking). So it is quite possible that some of them cannot smell their breath.
