What kind of cough is it? Is it like a tickle in the back of your throat, then it could be post nasal drip and your should take something to dry up your sinuses. If the cough is productive, from the chest and lungs, and you can cough stuff up, then you need an expectorant to help loosen the phlegm. If you have insurance and it lasts after trying your own medicine, then I would check with my MD.

this may sound weird... but it is really useful.

take mandarins (oranges) and poke a hole from the top. stuff it with a little bit of salt, then heat it in the oven or microwave, if u decided to put it in a microwave, 10 secs for each. then u peel it and eat it... this should stop the cough... but warning... it may not taste nice.
