Go and ask the pharmacist. Tell him/her what your symptons are and for how long. Could be a cold, could be a allergy to something.
Choose a non-drowsy medicine if you are a driver or will be working on any type of machinery.
Proper rest will help. Drink fluids, non caffeine ones. Hot chocolate should be good. Breathing in the steam.
Cough drops help.
Vaporizers help. They have new ones out that do not require a vaporizer, just a plug in to the wall outlet. It releases the menthol vapor.
Been sick to long, time to change sheets and pillow case. Germs may be lurking around and re-infecting you.

A steam vaporizer where you can hold your head over the steam and breathe in the Vicks vapor relief gel you have in it. Can get at Wal Mart. Or get those Breathe Easy strips that you put over the widest part of your nostrils that hold your nose open at night. These also come medicated so you breathe in the Vicks Vapo-Rub. If you don't have access to these, then put some Vicks Vapo-Rub in a small pan of steaming water, take it off the stove, hold your head over it with a towel over your head and the steam so the steam won't escape.

They make nose strips to help you breath, they are called Breath Right. I could barely breath during my firs pregnancy, these were the only things that helped me breath at night! I cannot stand breathing from my mouth! Especially when I want to sleep! I know how you feel! Spend the $5.00, and pick a box of these up! They are in the pharmacy department. You will love these!

Old Fashioned Vicks on the nose helps. I had a friend who swore by snorting a little salt water and it cleared him right up. I have never done it, though. Sounds too painful

Those are all good answers. Vapors of any kind have to make it somewhat better. Hot steaming showers may help too. My Aunt had this problems and she used to prop herself up with some pillows. It worked for her maybe for you too. She also useds vaporub right under her nose but do not put it up your nose only under it.
