I understand there has been a recall on grits. Please enlighten me. Thanks?

Worm-infested boxes of instant breakfast found in Hawai'i last week have led to a nation-wide recall.
Last week, we brought you a Talk Story segment where a viewer found live worms and bugs crawling in her box of instant grits. And now that story has led to action being taken across the country.
It started just over a week ago, when viewer DeLaine Guy found worms in her morning bowl of grits.
From there, KHNL investigated, and also found worms and bugs in a box of Albers Instant Grits at the Safeway store in Makiki.
Today, Nestle, the parent company, has initiated a voluntary recall.

Seems to have been only in Hawaii

Hey johnson,

The recall is only in Hawaii. Bugs and/or worms, things that are found in most grains if they sit on the shelf long enough at the market or at your house. I had that problem a few years ago when I stored yellow grits in a pretty countertop cannister.

Whenever you buy grains (grits, oatmeal, rice, etc.) place them in the freezer. Also, don't buy organic grains, unless you like that kind of protein.

Why is grits in the Ethic Cuisine section? This is eaten by Americans in the South.

What's the fuss? Bugs & worms are protein, too! And I can't believe they'd taste any worse than grits!

i live in the south and have heard nothing about the recall.

granted if i still lived in the north - i'd have no clue as to what grits were so....
