Yeast infections generally don't go away by themselves, however, if it's not too serious, it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot at going away on its own.

To help your body help itself, try to keep the area as try and clean as possible. If it doesn't go away within a week or so, I would consult your medical advisor.

No a yeast infection needs some intervention. You need something like lotrimen for what ever area of your body is affected. Another useful thing, strange as it sounds, is using vinegar water to wash the area. The mild acid makes the environment hostile for yeast. Yeast is hard to get rid of, it will take regular applications of lotrimen or some other cream/substance to make it go away, the vinegar washing will speed it up.

Do not douche, it's not good it can only spread the infection into your pelvis. Just wash your area with feminine wash Lactacyd or lemonade. Treat that yeast with the medication their talking about. But, for me im using Canestan vaginal tablet i used it for seven nights before bed time after i wash myself, it's a suppository that should be inserted well into your vagina to kill those yeast. Avoid dairy foods and food with milk. Plain yogurt with live micro organisms will help you and drinking cranberry juice. But, if your infection is just mild the plain yogurt with live micro organisms can be the suppository by filling up a tube like containers just enough size to insert it to your vagina. Freeze it in a freezer then when it's done put the yogurt inside you as it melts. It's better when it's inside your vagina than eating it into your mouth bcos the micro organisms is the one which actually fights the infection.

No, The only way a yeast infection will go away without having to go to the doctors is keeping the area very clean. Douche at least once. Do not douche more than once a week. If you douche too often this can cause swelling/ pain, but you do need to douche at least once to clean the inner part of your vagina. Clean area with vaginal wipes two - three times a day. You can subsitute the vaginal wipes with baby wipes. Baby wipes are softer and less irritating.

Some yeast infections you get after your period, they eventually go away. But because of your discharge you should go get fluconazole from your doctor. It can worsen and give off a foul oder. So take care of it immediately. For the itching, definitely rub some plain yogurt in that area. The itching will go away.
