I know that I have a large kidney stone in my left flank. A couple weeks ago it started hurting and then I developed a redness and stinging on my penis tip and skin. It would get a little better than come back. I have also just noticed a white seimen looking fluid that comes out as well , noy much but some. I went to the hospital and described the symptoms and they gave me cipro. I have been on it a day and no changes. Does anyone know what it could be and how long before cipro works

Could be many things. The symptoms that you have described occur in many diseases or conditions, so it is not safe to say here 'its an STD' or 'its a UTI'. It does take Cipro a little while to work. The most important thing is to not stop taking it if you start feeling better. If you do not take the full course of the antibiotic, the bacteria causing your infection may become immune to it and become harder to kill. So even if you start feeling better within a couple days, continue the antibiotic as prescribed for the full course, unless you contact your doctor and they tell you otherwise. Hope you get feeling better.

If you have been having your medication as prescibed, i.e, with or without food etc. give it up to 3 days if no better go back to the doctors, but with any bladder problem you must drink at least 2 litres of water a day, which you should anyway for your general health, cause thats how u can get stones, also have no caffiene products coffee cola etc, even chocolate could impede progress, also some people just take longer to absorb and drugs and recover from these types of infections.

Give the pill more time. I've had a UTI, but then again, I'm a female. All of those symptoms are similar but for me, there was a sharp pain every time I urinated. I also had a constant urge to use the restroom, even if I had just gone. Try drinking a lot of cranberry juice. I also took these pills called AZO, they're harmless and you can find them at Wal Mart, basically just cranberry pills aimed at giving you a healthier urinary tract. Good luck!

It takes about 36-48 hrs for antiobiotics to fully take effect. Did your MD do lab tests ? Usually no white discharge or penile rerdness from UTI . If symptoms persist past 3 days on abx, revisit your MD.
Good luck, RN in Ca.
