Sounds like a simple answer, right? Nope.
1. No one that is sexually active can say that they are "clean." For several STD's there are no tests/ways to screen.
A. Genital Herpes--there is no way to screen/test for it unless someone has sores present and then those sores are cultured. 1 in 5 Americans have genital herpes and many of them do not know it because they have never had sores but they still have the virus, which they got from a sex partner, who may also have not know that he/she had it. Anyone sexually active has probably been exposed to it at some point because it is so common. So, if someone is sexually active there is no way to know for sure that someone does not have it.
B. HPV, the virus that causes genital warts and cellular changes on the cervix--similiar to genital herpes there is no way to screen/test for it unless someone has ever had warts/symptoms. Again, anyone sexually active has probably been exposed to it and may also have it and not know it--it is very common.
C. HIV--If someone contracts HIV it can take 3-6 months for the virus to be detected through testing, so a negative test today is not a definative test. A negative test today would be considered negative for 6 months ago and before.
D. Trichomoniasis--Only women can be screened for this STD, there is no way to screen/test men for it. Men only receive treatment for it when their partner comes back positive.
Thus, no one can say they are "clean" because they can not be tested for all STD's.
2. The herpes virus can be transmitted from the mouth to the genitals and from the genitals to the mouth (though this pathway is much less common and not as easy to occur). Oral cold sores are caused by a herpes virus, if a partner with a cold sore performs oral sex on a partner they could very easily give their partner genital herpes. And, in this situation neither partner had genital herpes to start with beforehand. And, in many couples this type of herpes transmission occurs when both partner are virgins--never having intercourse, but having oral sex. Yet, on partner has a oral cold sore, performs oral sex on their partner and the other partner contracts genital herpes. Thus, here is a situation when virgins can contract an STD. When a partner has a cold sore they should not let their cold sore come into contact with their partner's mouth/lips etc or their partner's genitals to protect their partner.
Because there is no way to say that someone is clean and also because STD's can occur between two people w/o and STD and two virgins, regarding herpes, it would always be wise to pratice safer sex, get regular STD screenings for those infections that can be screened for and always talk openly with your partner about your health history and your comfort level.

If two ppl who have sex together and neither of them have an std no u cannot get it. Unless you have been sexually active with other ppl in the past and you knew nothing about it.

The only way to find out if you have one is to go for a doctor for a swab or blood test. And some std's do not show any symptoms.
Some std's if not treated can cause infertility or sterility and can cause long term damage to your reproductive organs.

Go ask your doctor and get him/her to give you the facts about transmitting the disease if your still not sure.

No, if neither has an STD to begin with, than one cannot just show up. Although...there is something called Human papilloma virus which is not technically an STD, but a virus which is spread through sex. It is also called HPV-not to be confused with HIV. They are totally different. There are 2 different types of HPV-the one which causes genital warts, which is an STD, and one which most of the time doesn't cause anything, but sometimes can turn up giving you an abnormal pap smear-which can lead to cervical cancer. I'm sure you've seen the comercials-a virus that causes cancer...if they catch it in time, you can get them lasered off or frozen off. No big deal, believe me, I've had it done. So, now that I've kind of went off the question, I hope that you learned something, and you are not stupid, you are trying to gain knowledge.

You don't have to have sex to get an STD. If someone has cold sores and gives another person oral sex, they can transmit the HPV virus, which is what causes genital herpes. Another thing, you can develop thrush without sexual contact. 2/3 of women get it at some stage so it's very common. It's a yeast infection of the genitals and it gets very itchy and sore down there, and red. That can be passed on via sexual intercourse but is not an STD per se. Take care of your body. You only get one!

Anyone can give you STD's because you have no idea whether the person last year slept around....maybe only once or twice, and that person was infected.

Yes, so that means the person you have std's with ...had unprotected sex with someone else...and they don't tell you.

Protect yourself by practicing using the stuff that your people in health class in school tell you about...and if you don't know ask your mother, sister or family for knowledge.

This is not the place to get a health class.....sorry!

No. If neither person has an STD, than there is NO way one person can catch it from the other.

IF someone has caught an STD then the person they had sex with already HAD the STD.

One VERY important thing to keep in mind. When you have sex with a person, you are having sex with ALL the people the person has had sex with....yep, ALL of them. Good luck. Pops

I got identified with the herpes simplex virus (type 2) about three years back, whilst I was still attending college and had a mindless one-night stand. I realize lots of girls say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a massive mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date men again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone who has sores around her "you know what" area? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/ryJpH everything got better.

Not only was I able to eliminate all remnants of the herpes virus from my system in less than three weeks, but I was also able to begin dating again. I even met the guy of my dreams and I'm so lucky to write that just a week ago, in front of everybody in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!! This program provided the chance to be happy and experience real love again. Now I want to help others by sharing this story.

I'm thinking no you get get a STD when both people are free from any type of dx. Unless of course if a third person becomes involved that has a dx.

If neither of them has an STD to begin with, neither will get one from that activity. However, there are lots of things that men can carry asymptomatically that manifest more in women. Just because he look disease free doesn't mean he is.
