has anyone that answered this question actually been to paris??
sadly, there is no really 'french/paris food' over there, there is a lot of mcdonalds cafes and lots of food from around the world, especially indian, yes its known for its wine and bread, but just because wine is cheaper than water there, and the water tastes like toilet water, so if you are going to travel there, acquire a taste for wine, and there best thing in paris is site seeing and shopping

While I agree with the person who said McDonalds, I ate bread all the time there (more than I have anywhere else). And potato chips...there is a way bigger variety of in Europe than the US, I think. Although my favorite thing I ate in Paris was in a Chinese restaurant...

If you go to a typical neighbourhood bar you'll always find croque monsieurs (a grilled ham and cheese sandwich) and half-chickens served with fries. Fries are often fried in horse fat in France.

I would say brioche, cheese and wine. The French do not eat the way we Americans do. If we did, we'd all be a lot thinner (and drunker).
