I'm not a doctor, but I am a diabetic. I believe that Vitamin E is safe to take when one has diabetes. I would recommend that you go for a mixed-tocopherol rather than an alpha-tocopherol. Some would say that there is no difference, but I would say, "the closer to nature the better." As for the dose, I personally take 800 international units daily, divided, 400 iu in the morning and 400 iu in the evening. I have been taking that amount for years.
The best person to ask is your personal doctor. He or she knows your personal history, physical conditions and needs. Each person is so different, even doctors are sometimes at a loss to know exactly what to do.
