does anyone have any ideas for drinks for a child with diabetes. I don;t want to get only diet soda- soda is bad for him in a whole nother way, but most juices have so much sugar in them...

Also any snack ideas would be great as well- but the drinks i need the most.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.

I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Diet drinks are not harmful in any way.Even the diet juice.
I will occasionally drink small amounts of real juice - i just add some water to it.

You should talk to a person who deals with diabetes. Are you a member of the American Diabetes association yet ? They have lots of ideas.

One snack my daughter loved - is an ice cream cone- no ice cream, filled with cool whip.It is almost a free food and really made her feel special. She was dxed at age 2. She is now 16.

Good luck.

My 7 year old daughter has type 1 diabetes, she was diagnosed at 14 months. She likes the sugar-free Hansen's soda, I put water bottles in her lunch box and I add lemon juice and a bit of Splenda. She really likes the boxes of soy-milk, they're 8 ounces I think. The key is the protein they contain and they also come in yummy flavors like chocolate. Stay away from juice, they can cause high spikes in his blood sugar, save the juice for low blood sugar.
Hope this helps.

They are better off eating fresh fruit. I have Type II diabetes and the doctor told me definitely NO JUICE when I was pregnant. Fruit has natural sugar in it and it takes so much fruit to make 1 glass of juice, it is like eating pure sugar. Even the no sugar added juices are bad. Stick with fresh fruit and veggies, whole grain cereals. My son loves the Kashi Mighty Bites cereal as a snack. It has 5 g of sugar, 3 g of fiber and 5 g of protein. It recommends a 1/2 cup serving for children under age 4. Also check with your child's doctor about going to a nutritionist for meal and snack plans. Stay away from dried fruits. They are all high in sugar...fresh is best.

water of course, Hi_C makes a light version with only 2 carbs per 8oz serving, Caprisun makes a flavored water with about 4 g carbs per pouch, and my son's favorite Crystal Light Raspberrry Lemonade (or any crystal light flavor) Also check out the Children with Diabetes website and turn his parents on to it. Great source of support and info from parents and physicians. As far as snack, one big tip is to measure everything. Best snack for a diabetic are a combo of carns and protein/fat. The protein/fat slows down the absorption of the carbs. Good combos are apple slices and peanut butter, PB and whole wheat crackers, cheese stick and slices of ham (low-sodium). Also "free" snack like carrots and celery sticks.

crystal light, or the new ocean spray diet that is good. I am a diabetic (type 1) and I have 2 kids age 10 & 12. They like to eat/dring what I eat/drink. I make kool-aid with equel or splenda (1 packet unsweetned with 18 packets of splenda or equel-equel works better for kool-aid) My husband and kids and i drink kool-aid that way with our dinner.
