Using condoms every time you have sex will offer significant protection from STD's including HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Keep in mind that condoms are not 100% effective, only abstaining from sex ensures no risk of infection. Condoms are designed for both pregnancy prevention/birth control and infection proection. The idea that condoms only offer protection for birth control and not infection or vice versa is false. Always use lubricated latex or lubricated polyurethane condoms. Never use unlubricated condoms, they are more likely to break. Never use natural skin/lamb skin/ membrane condoms, they will help prevent pregnancy but will not offer any protection from infections.

A condom is considered very good for preventing AIDS. Very good but not perfect. Condoms break sometimes. Its rare but it can happen. I think the failure rate is about 5 per-cent, so its better than nothing but not perfect. You have to wear it right, put it on right, I think some kinds of lubricants can damage them.

The condom helps but there a possible risk of you getting it. Get tested 6 months later thats when the test can detect the virus in the bloodstream. Also don't have sex with anyone else you don't want to pass it around.

They say condoms HELP prevent pregnancy and STDs. I read in my doctors office that your are 98% protected with one on. Which sure is better than going bare back and being 100% not protected. But still there is that 2% chance you are taking. I also heard condoms were mainly to prevent pregnancy and not HIV or STDs either way it boils down to one way to know Get tested. If you dont have insurence you can go to the local clinic. Its very simple and people do it every day. Good Luck to you.

condoms are a safer method of preventing AIDS but to be sure you need to get tested. the only way to prevent AIDS is to abstain from sex.
