Metals valve lasts longer but it needs anti-coagulation(blood thinner) with "Coumadin" which is a BIG headache, with risk of bleeding(in brain for example) with or even without trauma.
animal tissue valve does not need blood thinner(coumadin) but lasts less.
But i kow that the new tissue valve can last as many years as the metal one.
also in the case of pulmonary valve, there is not much pressuer ACROSS the valve which make the valve lasts even more.
trust me you are in safe & experienced hands
good luck & see you after the surgery

For a serious surgery like this, you should ALWAYS get a second opinion. But New York Columbia/Presbyterian Hospital is a great place with some of the best doctors anywhere. So you can trust what they tell you. And good luck.
