I have had HPV for over ten years now and I run a several groups for it. I have seen HPV lie dormant in women for up to 30 years! I know HPV is some very tricky stuff, but just because you came up with it out of the blue does NOT mean your boyfriend cheated on you. I really hate to see relationships go down the drain over false information.
You can have it for years before it causes you a problem, or you can never have a problem from it....most people don't. If you don't have warts or dysplasia from it you would never even knew you had it! You can fight it off into dormancy and later it reappear again because your immune system is shot. All it takes is a weak spot in your body to allow it to come out and play.
Your right, there are no approved tests for men right now. If you have it then your boyfriend probably does too. He just won't know it unless he gets warts from a "low risk" strain, "high risk" strains are associated with precancerous cells of the cervix, but rarely cause a problem in men. SO peope can have it, not know it, and pass it on.

men and women can get it but it can be a worse outcome for the woman (us women get all the great things hey!!) You can contract warts(HPV) and it be on the genitals but it can also go inside the cervix, which if left undetected can lead to cancer cells being produced cin1 2 3 4 5. 5 being being the worst. And because you get pap smears 2 yearly, it could be from a previous partner. I had cin3 a few years ago but never had them on the genitals. I had to go have them lasered off. Usually it is done under a general anesthetic but can be done under a local which is what I did (less down time) plus it really was just uncomfortable, the local needles were like a pinch and could not feel a thing after that. But at least this is treatable and curable and there is like you said a vaccine now which is great!

No, I have had a scare like this before to. Some STD's can lay unknown in the body for years with no symptoms. Some will affect one person and will show no signs on another. Do some research on the internet or at the library. Remember to read more then one source

No it doesnt mean he cheated on you. You could have gotten it from a past boyfriend, or he could have gotten it from a past girlfriend. Theres really no way of knowing.

If you had a sexual partner before this current boyfriend, it is possible that you caught it from him and it has lain dormant in you for a this time period.
