why do those who CHOOSE not to eat meat get so uptight for others exercising the RIGHT to eat what we want? I don't need anyone telling me what to eat. Certainly some white kid with dreads and a B.O. issue. your thoughts?

perhaps my generalization was a bit off, however, I still maintain, when you meet a veghead, all they want to do is tell you you're killing animals and how bad it is for you to eat meat. its like religion, don't try to force your belief on me and we'll all get along fine.

Because they truly believe that their choice is healthier for the human system and that natural foods vitalize the body and help it run better in the long run.

Unfortunately, many of these folks are evangelistic in their beliefs and do not realize that they are disrespectful to others for the choices they make.

Honestly, many vegans believe in the SUPERIORITY of their cause just like other zealots do. When does diet and nutrition become a religion? Well, we've all had a taste of it and it doesn't taste very good.

Glad you asked the question. Good Luck and Happy dining.

Well, I agree, aside from the fact that not all vegetarians or vegans are as you say "white kids with dreads and a B.O. issue." Also, not all vegetarians are nazis about it. I have a few friends who are veg-heads (that is what I call them) and they are perfectly pleasant and sometimes even joke about me being a carnivore.

Others though, I have met many, are religious about it to a point that they act like religious zealots trying to push their beliefs on everyone else.

Really, I have tried being a veg-head (lasted 3 months and although I felt mostly healthy I just couldn't do it.. I like meat TOO MUCH!!); the fact is, it is NOT for everyone nor SHOULD it be. To get the proper nutrients on a vegetarian diet can be a pain and many people would just end up malnourished.

I think if you don't want to eat things that once had faces that is FINE, just don't be a JERK about it.

I am a vegetarian and I am not at all like you have described, everyone has the right to eat what they want, I chose to become a vegetarian and I really don't care if others don't choose to be a vegetarian, it is my personal choice.I am white but definitely not a kid, and dread locks I wouldn't even try to get that look, and I think I smell pretty good.

As a vegetarian I get grief from meat eaters way more than I dish it out to them! I couldn't begin to count the number of times I've gotten the "you have to eat meat to survive" lecture from people when they find out I don't! As with everything else in life it goes both ways, there are jerks on either side of the issue.

that is like asking why are some Muslims and Christians militant? some human beings have faith their ideals are the only good ones and that promotes extremism. that is authentic everywhere hat ideals and thoughts are severe. extremely through fact vegans see the dying and torture of animals and function a tendency to not understand how that is achieveable to enable something like that take place and not care. on the subject of the musician, he's a musician. I study someplace i think of Jennifer Lopez would not enable any of the staff to look her is the eyes or consult from her jointly as she's preparing. maximum celebrities have loopy s*** that they request, his is merely veg*n. i think of there is one celebrity that I study won't enable absolutely everyone tremendously to artwork for or round her, i assume she desires to be the only tremendously one and demands grotesque human beings to be employed. back, that is barely loopy celebrities. not all human beings are like that. i'm a vegan yet i've got faith that except somebody chooses to circulate veg*n, they're going to on no account persist with it and in he end that is counterproductive. i think of coaching is the suitable thank you to decide for long term replace, and not tremendously much animal rights yet in addition nutrition and environmental reward. Extremism will turn human beings off and that they gained't even enable themselves to pay attention any advice (like that musician, you heard approximately his severe strikes and now may well be grew to become off from the great veg*n message).

I think they act as such because they are ostracized from society as a whole. What I mean is that people tend to think of them as weird. When I went to go see Fish (who are vegans) after the show there were many people selling vegeterian burritos. I thought it was kind of silly then so when asked if I wanted one, I said, "Don't you guys have any carnitas burritos?" They didn't think it was funny and began to preach to me about the wonders of veganism. Since then I have grown to appreciate their point of view. After all it is a good message they have, don't kill animals needlessly just for our pleasure and convenience. But yes I think some vegans just like Chrisitians, Mechistas, Muslims, and members of all established ideologies can become fanatical and this leads towards militantism. Now if you're talking about the Dodgers.... that's different. Just Kidding

Oh dear... (Me, rolling my eyes..)

The "militant" vegetarians and vegans you are referring to, are few and far in between. Not all of us are like that, as a matter of fact I've never met any vegan who behaves like that.

Though I have read books and articles written by other vegetarians and vegans and their written work does come off a bit standoffish. But I still love being a vegetarian.

They feel their way is the right way and our's is wrong. We "hurt" animals.

They don't realize that not everyone treats animals cruely. Just because we eat them doesn't make us bad. If we didn't eat them, there would be an overpopulation and they would die a painful death from starvation from a lack of enough food sources.

Not to mention, there is a theory that plants "feel" too, so they are hurting plants by eatting them.

I say, both were here for a reason...to get in my belly! LOL

You are so right. They just want attention and I think 1/2 that choose that do so for the attention. Like everyone in their life or anyone who comes into their life KNOWS they are a vegetarian.

The way I see it, there are vegans, vegetarians, and vegetable-aryans. The latter being the nut cases you are talking about.
