All I can say is that I have been going through the same thing now for 4 years. I don't get the hot sweats anymore which is like being on fire, but I do get very hot and perspire which is not very nice and then go cold. I do not want to go on Hrt either. Other than that I feel fine. If the same thing happens to your wife and the sweats subside to be substituted by being very hot and sweaty she will be able to control this by adjusting the amount of clothes she wears (I wear layers, then I can peel them off when I am hot and put them back on again when I am cold) and turning down the heating a degree or two. I try to keep the heating off in the bedroom at night, I find this helps. I do not get cold like I used to anymore. My friend is also going through the change, you do learn to adjust and get used to it. She doesn't take hrt either. Providing she feels fine in herself and is not getting any of the more severe affects of the change, then I think she is doing the right thing by not taking hrt.

Check out this website, it talks about natural alternatives to hormone replacement therapy. I admire your wife for deciding against the hrt that might be dangerous for her. Hopefully, she can find some herb suppliments that will help her get through this time. You are a wonderful husband for trying to help her! : )
