Physically, the body has an easy way of digesting vegetables than it does with animal flesh. Vegetables that are not organic will contain herbicides and pesticides, but animal flesh that eats this will have it contained in their flesh, plus antibiotics and steriods. These substances cause imbalances to the biochemistry of the body.

Mentally you know that a live being was killed againsts its will, that humans are in control of (not the usual answer of well we all have to die sometime, that is out of our control), just so we can ingest its flesh (which we have an untruth of saying that we need it to live). Depending on your thinking of what is an animal, living species that inhabit the Earth with us, or a commodity to be used for our pleasure, is what will be your morals.

Emotionally the demerits are about love. How well do you love? Do you love just specifically, or can you embrace the whole world? Do you love your pet, but not the cow in the field down the road? Can you look at a PETA video about the reality of farm factories and not cringe everytime you see the animal getting killed and it is struggling to free itself in order to live? Or after seeing one of the videos, being able to still eat the animal after bringing up the image in your mind and then dismissing it?

And then spirituality, which ties all these three together (body, mind, and heart), is what YOU are. Personally, I want for my SELF the peace I wish to see in the world, which will include peace for animals, and for the environment, and for the whole planet.

Colon cancer and heart disease have been linked to meat-based diets. I believe cholesterol and blood pressure are also suggested to be negatively effected by meat consumption.

Throw in stuff like mad cow, e-coli, salmonella, lysteria and all the lovely parasites that can accompany that T-bone and yeah... enough for me to stop eating it! And by parasites... yes... I mean worms. Watch animal planet for a day or two... you're BOUND to come across a show that talks about tapeworms, etc in humans. YUK.

Of course that's all just on the health side of it. There's a whole separate list of reasons if you're an animal lover.

Dart, the body has an easier way of digesting bread than potato, does that mean we should only eat the former? The fact is the body has no problems with the digestion of meat.

Everyone has their own morals, and I prefer not to comment on other people's, but do you not think one can think an animal a living species that inhabits the Earth with us, and still eat meat? Animals eat animals, humans eat animals, in my opinion it's natural, but each to their own.
