Well, yes, I suppose.

If the patient has a renal problem and fluid is backing up because they are not peeing or passing the fluid off as urine, it will end up in the lungs. This will create a cough as a normal response to the unusual fluid in the lungs. I would be a wet cough, the mucus would be frothy and often pink in color and there is almost always shortness of breath associated with pulmonary edema, or fluid backup in the lungs. Hope this helps!

No. A cough is a lower respiratory clearance mechanism. Renal diseases involve the kidney and its ability to filter the blood. These are not even close.

Absolutely. If the kidneys are not working appropriately then fluid will back up into the lungs. If you have fluid in the lungs then you will most likely have a cough as this is the body's way of clearing the lungs. I know this is a short answer but it is the best way that I can put it in layman's terms.

Yes.

Please don't start thinking that a cough is cancer.

Please see a doctor before thinking you are the second case of something in all of medical history.

This is a recommendation for common sense by all readers, and should not reflect upon the questioner.
