Hello! I do a lot of cooking of Mexican dishes and traditionally flautas are corn, not flour tortillas, rolled up like a long flute, which flauta means, and stuffed with any savory filling (meat, chicken, etc.) and fried in a small amount of oil until crisp. Drain on some paper towels and serve with salsa to which some sour cream or Mexican crema has been added and mixed in.
Taquitos are also made traditionally with corn tortillas, also with savory fillings (meat, chicken, beans, etc.) but they are folded in half. They can be either fried or non-fried. They are usually smaller than regular tacos. Thus the word taquito which literally means little taco.

There is really no difference in the two. Someone thought the name would be easier to say if they were called taquitos but they are flautas. They can be filled with a variety of meats and vegetables. They are delicious, I found your question kind of shocking. Because I just finished making some for dinner and tomarrow we will have tacos with the remaining meat.

Typically, Mexican restaurants in the US, a flauta (a flute) is larger/longer than a taquito and made from a rolled flour tortilla, while a taquito (little taco) is made from rolling corn tortillas.
Technically, there is no difference and the names are used interchangeably.

I wonder why so many people, including a Latina, think you said taco instead of taquito.
The difference to me is the type of filling. I may be way wrong. A flauta contains fruit and a taquita contains meat or vegetables.

Hello Jessica! Well there is a difference, the flautas can be made either with corn or flour tortillas, but they are fried with oil, so they get crispy and the tacos are made either with flour or corn tortillas but they are not fried at all, they are soft and served open. Look:

ohh and another thing: tacos in Mexico are not served "hard" like in taco Bell. See you!!

If you mean FAJITAS and TACOS, fajitas are on a soft shell and are more of a tangy sauce. tacos contain beef, cheese and lettuce.
