I have genital herpes. I slept with my boyfriend the other day, and was unaware of any blisters that were present until a while after having sex, my boyfriend then said that the condom had split in the process.. Does this mean he would have definately caught something, or is it a chance that he might not have. I mean in all cases would you catch something off someone if they have an STD if the condom splits??

First does your boyfriend know that you have genital herpes? Just because he wore a condom doesn't mean that he didn't catch herpes Whether you have symptoms or not, you can still transmit the infection. If you are sexually active, condoms can help reduce, but do not eliminate, the risk of spreading HSV.

Genital herpes (also called HSV infection) is a viral infection caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). It is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) that may cause skin blisters and sores in the genital area, but often causes no visible symptoms. It is possible to get genital herpes through sexual contact with an infected person even if he or she has no symptoms.

I hope this helps...Be careful sweety

It depends. The insertive partner (male) is always at less risk for contracting HSV (Herpes) than the receptive partner (female).

Are you on anti-viral medications? If you are taking valtrex, it is proven to reduce the risk of spreading HSV.

The fact that he wore a condom is good. However, the condom doesn't cover all areas of the pelvis area and regardless of whether it split it's still possible to spread the virus. You are most infective at the very beginning and very end of an outbreak.

If you were taking medication at the time I would say that the possibility of infection is around 5%. If you weren't, I would say around 20%.

Hope this helps.

Actually any area that is infected that touches his skin will make him infected. There isn't any possible way to know except having him go to the doctor. Does he know that you have herpes? If not, you need to tell him and explain what happened. I wish you all the best of luck.

Definitely, no. But his risk skyrocketed with your active outbreak and limited protection from the broken condom. He should see his doctor for testing.

There's a good chance he caught it. Even if you are not broke out your partner can catch it if you are intimate.
