AND how do I fix it? Also, what can happen if I do not fix it? Is 82 really that high anyway?

The optimal goal is systolic pressure below 120 and diastolic below 80. ...Diastolic: Referring to the time when the heart is in a period of relaxation and dilatation (expansion). Your blood pressure is normal and ideal.

Diastolic blood pressure is your blood pressure during diastole. Diastole is the period of time when your heart muscles are relaxing after contraction. When you take a blood pressure you usually get two numbers. The bottom number is the diastolic blood pressure. Normal is 80, but 82 isn't bad at all. Optimal blood pressure is 120/80. Start to worry if you get to 140/90.

Diastolic of 82 is perfectly fine. The Heart Association parameters have lowered the normal for diastolic to 80. Personally, I think that is too low to be the limit on the high end. I don't start worrying about it until it reaches 90 or above. The new parameters for normal (60-80) are too narrow.
