yeah that's high, but it looks like your heart was pumping hard though when you took it. im guessing you were up walking around, sat down right away and took it instead of taking it at rest. sit down, relax and rest a few minutes before you take your blood pressure. and, blood pressure varies widely- you cant get an accurate reading by taking it just once. take it 3 or 4 times and average them out, that'll give you a better idea of what your actual pressure is. treatment is usually recommended if it is over 140/90. 120/80 or less is considered ideal. if you are overweight, lose some weight, if you have a lot of salt in your diet, cut back some, and excercise regularly- that'll help to lower it without drugs

76 is good. The 145 is a little high. The old parameters put the diastolic at 130, which is okay. The new Heart Association parameters are 120, which may be a little low for some people, particularly older people whose blood pressure may have been really high and the meds could only get them down to 130-140. Look at stress or pain episodes. Also, had you been exercising right before you took your bp? BP should be taken at rest. Activity can raise BP some. However, it should not raise it excessively.

hello, the 76 is excellent but the 145 is high...get it down to at least 130 or lower....actually the new studies are suggesting that under 120 and under 80, which is what you have (76) is really the best for your pressure. blood pressure varies throughout the day, so do not be surpised if at times during the day (more than morning and evening) that it rises...the thing you need to worry about is if it stays high, then you need to see a doctor, but if it is only high once in a while, you do not need to worry....this could be caused by lack of excercise, too much sodium or nitrates from foods as well as STRESS! and anxiety...all this can make your pressure go up...just make sure you get your pressure checked out at least once a week to make sure that the 145 is not a steady thing...you should get that down to at least under 130 or much lower....anything under 120 is the best and anything under 80 is the best! good luck and stay healthy~

120 over 80 is normal. the Systolic, or top number, is a bit high, but not really concerningly high. The Diastolic, or bottom number is normal. Your mean pressure, or the difference between the 2 that indicates how well your brain is being profused, is also normal, or within a decent range. What you have to remember overall is that one blood pressure reading that is high is not enough to diagnose hypertension. When you had your reading, you may have been stressed, or maybe just walked a ways, that can cause it to be high. If you have more than 3 readings each time you have it checked and it stays elevated above 120, you are borderline hypertensive. Talk to your doctor about measures you may need to take to lower your blood pressure. Like I said, don't get all worried, its really not that high.

It depends on when u took your bp. If you were in a stressful situation it can make your bp high. If you take your bp when you are sitting/resting and its 145/90, then yes i would say that is moderate hypertension. I have this...my doc recommended loosing some weight, decrease intake of salt, and exercise. You don't want that pressure to go any higher, so make sure you monitor your bp at home. You can pick up a blood pressure machine at the store for about 50-60 dollars.

The 145 (systolic) pressure is a little too high. should be 120 or less. the top number is easily affected by anxiety, pain, activty. Also, you have to have a high reading consistently before you are considered to have HBP. Just make sure you sit for a few moments, take a deep breath and think get your pressure checked. The bottom number is normal.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

I agree with William. Following on from that, no-one will act on one single isolated blood pressure reading. It is best to take 3 readings at different times and assessing the trend. Blood pressure fluctuates during the day/night, with exercise, anxiety, stress, pain.etc etc Ideally, go and visit your doctor and have your blood pressure rechecked. For the record 152/102 is high, but should not be a cause for undue worry. Go and have it rechecked (with an appropriate sized cuff). If it remains persistently high, then I imagine your doctor will perform some other tests to look for potential causes.

You should read "The Blood Pressure Solution" (also available in electronic format, watch the video presentation here: http://www.fixbloodpressure.com ) It's a very comprehensive step-by-step book that walks you through the natural remedies of high blood pressure. It provides you with a lot of information on what foods to eat, how you can acquire and prepare these foods, how you can change your lifestyle for the better, how to eliminate the toxins from your body, how to reduce stress, how you can check your blood pressure level the correct way etc.

The book is amazing in that it not only lowers your blood pressure without the help of medications; it also aids you in having a life that is healthy, happier, and less stressful. This book chanced my life.
