My mom wants to buy me UGGS for Christmas. I used to never want them because i heard they were made of sheepskin.
IS THIS EVEN TRUE? but i heard the UGGS company waits until the sheep die naturally to remove their skin. AM I STILL ALLOWED TO HAVE EXCEPTIONS IF I AM A VEGETARIAN?

If you are a 'vegetarian'? Of course you can. You can wear boots made out of puppies, and still be a vegetarian.

You just can't EAT them.

edited to add: I was going to snigger at 'Jenny F,' until I noticed:

1 She's been 'vegetarian' for a WHOLE MONTH!
2 She's _eleven_.

So I'm not going to snigger, but instead point to this, yet again:

if you have exceptions, then you are not a vegetarian. if you're going to do something, do it 100%. don't pick and choose what's convenient for you. i was vegetarian for 10 years and people who call themselves vegetarians who eat fish or poultry ARE NOT VEGETARIANS!!! the same applies for your clothes, your shoes- being a vegetarian is way of life, not merely about what you are or aren't putting in your mouth.

lunachick has the answer, the other peopleare not educated on vegetarian/vegan---although i've never seen anyone wear meat(!!), i'm pretty sure she means animal products. vegans do not eat or use anything produced by animals, like honey, dairy, leather etc. vegetarians use all these and are only people who do not eat meat. so, you may wear whatever you like and call yourself a vegetarian as long as you refrain from eating meat.

Honey, to be a vegetarian means to eat NO meat, dairy, and eggs. It also means you do not wear ANY animal skin (which means fur, leather, suede, etc.). So unless, Uggs are not suede or leather, you cannot wear them.

Like most of the other posters said, its your own preference. If you decide to go leather-less, tell your mom to buy you something from vegan shoe retailers like Mooshoes http://www.mooshoes.com/ or at the Petamall http://www.petamall.com/cloth.asp

It's so condescending when people call you honey. Vegetarians don't eat meat of any kind. Vegans don't eat OR wear meat of any kind.

Its all up to you. If you think its wrong to wear them then don't. Don't do it just because of someone else's standards.
