They are potato pancakes... looking for my Latke recipes. Couldn't find them - sorry, but here's a potato pancake recipe for you...
"Potato Pancakes" - Serves 6 to 8
5 cups grated potatoes; drained
1 tbsp. grated onion
2 eggs; beaten
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
3-4 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1/4 cup butter
Combine potatoes, onion, eggs, salt, pepper and enough flour to bind. Drop by rounded tablespoons in hot butter; fry 5 minutes on each side, until brown. Serve with applesauce or sour cream.

Aren't they grated potato pancakes? I think I tried them once when I was a kid, with sour cream & applesauce. Not bad!
