$150 for a 'garden'? IMO it's overpriced junk! Get a small grow light for about $20 and a rectangular 'window box' type pot for $5 and you'll have the same thing (actually will probably work better).

Next, headaches...See a doctor to find out what the cause is! It could be your diet; you don't indicate details on what amount of knowledge you have on the subject but I'd suspect it's lacking given your last question.

And I assume your mother wants you to eat meat because she suspects a nutritional deficiency! While you're at the doctor to learn the *real* reason for your headaches he can run an inexpensive blood profile to find out what if anything you lack.

The link below will give you more information about how to be a healthy veggie and will also help convince your mom to avoid the Ensure stuff (which may be soy based but is *NOT* vegetarian)

Ensure is a very good nutritional supplement. It doesn't taste bad either. It's also made with soy. You should try other soy products. Many of them are nutritionally enhanced as well.

I would suggest that you also take multi-vitamin and protein supplements. You may have headaches because you are not eating enough. So slightly increase you intake to see if that helps. If they don't go away you should probably see a doctor. It could be something serious.

Contrary to popular belief, there is more to being a vegetarian than eating a lot a salad. Vegetarian Times is a popular magazine that has great information on nutrition and diet. They have a good website also. http://www.vegetariantimes.com/

One thing you might want to do is to talk to your Mom and explain your motivations. If she knows that there are legitimate reasons you want a healthier lifestyle she may come around.

I agree with sensible's advice.

As for the AeroGarden, I think it is highly overpriced. Get a flower pot, potting soil and some seeds and grow your herbs the old fashioned way. With the $100+ you save you can buy some vegetarian cookbooks so you can learn how to make a variety of healthy meals. You could also get some vegetarian multivitamins from a health food store just to be on the safe side. That would probably help put your mother's mind at ease.

Ensure is fine. It's not bad tasting and it's got tons of vitamins. But if your mom is concerned, and you're getting headaches... you're obviously not eating right.

You don't have to eat meat...but you do have to have protein. Peanut butter, nuts, beans, etc are a must. See if your mom will buy (or you can buy) Morningstar Farms (or Boca, etc) mock meats. They taste JUST like meat and are easy to cook (most are easily microwavable)... You can't just NOT eat the meat your mom cooks and be a vegetarian... you've got to replace it with something else or you won't get the nutrients you need.

Read some books or mags on the subject. Become knowledgeable about what your body needs... then you'll be better prepared to argue your point with your mom (as to why you want to be veggie). Being vegetarian can be very healthy... but you have to do it right!

oh... and that garden thing... yeah. BAD idea. Go get a chia herb garden for $9.99. I about fell out of my chair when I saw the price on that thing! GEESH!

Meat is protein....You should take a milkshake of protein powder instead of ensure...Ensure is glycose for diabetics with dangerously low sugar levels gotten from glucose (sugar) frutose(fruits sugar).... and glucose is obtained from carbohydrates which you are eating already....You will end up with damaging high blood sugars if you continue to only eat carbs supplemented with Ensure.....Talk to any nutritionist or a guy you know in good shape, that works out cause he will probably know about good diet as well.

On YA, no. In college, at residence, and many others. sure. A lot, truthfully... It's simply that at my college, it is tough to inform whether or not or now not you are peers are simply joking, being immature, or being impolite. The factor is, joking and being impolite are beneath the equal class in which I reside. If you go the very, very pleasant line on the incorrect time, with the incorrect man or woman, then they are going to freak. The equal is going for your self too. It's so complicated... -Lyssa :)

Save your money and see a doctor for a blood work up to see what you are missing from your diet. I have had friends loose their sight from lack of protein, it's called berry-berry, you should not be having head aches. Not eating meat is fine, it just takes a lot of knowledge to insure proper diet. If you are a teenage girl you need lots of protein in your diet, research, research, research
read em, and eat

If you are really so worried about your mother dictating your diet, then where are you going to get $150 to buy that?
