No need to repost vegan and proud. I was just going to tell the story about how me and a friend went to one of their recruitmant meetings at my school wearing ted nugent t-shirts and buckets of KFC. I know it was messed up but it was funny

I agree with you. I think a lot of them aren't even sure what the helk they believe but they love the shock effect they have on people and it's all about "oh look at me".
Yeah, I know, start counting the thumbs down.

PETA does more good than it does harm.
The crazy stunts are all to attract attention to a horrible problem.
The cultivation of animals for food is destroying this planet. Whether you care about your own health or have moral issues with killing animals, no one can deny that this industry is the MOST damaging to our environment. Water, soil, greenhouse effect, depletion of the ozone layer, etc. There is so much information that it would boggle your mind.
There a million reasons to go vegetarian and it's something you can control. Everything else is protesting what other people are doing!
Peta stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Who can argue that animals shouldn't be treated with respect and with reasonable concern for their well-being?
Check out the website below for an effective enviromental argument for vegetarianism.

PETA seems radical because they are attempting to change an entire culture, which generally involves doing radical things that will get people's attention. Organization's like the humane society and ASPCA are trying to do something different-they try to change laws and prosecute people that abuse animals, so there is no reason for them to do stunts and such to get people's attention. It is a matter of goals.

I guess I don't really know what the question is here, but as a vegetarian, even I think some of the actions taken by PETA are too radical. Attempting to kill or maim people to make a point is a bit too extreme in my book. I would prefer a more peaceful approach.

Peta, in my view, does some good things, but they need to stand 100% for abolition, not welfare. Animal rights people need to be fighting for one goal, and that is the complete abolition of animal exploitation. When we talk about right for animals we are really not talking about cows voting or things like that. What we are talking about is the right that animals have not to be treated as property.
The Animal rights movement should not just be about oppression of animals, but oppression of all forms, including humans. That's what Veganism truly is, living abolition. choosing to refrain for the consumption of products of animal, and human oppression. It's just as important that a Vegan doesn't by Nikes, as s/he doesn't by a leather jacket. IMO.

I am all for protecting the animals. I was a former member of PETA and to be really honest, this group caters to the rich, and expect each member to make donations constantly to keep their organization running. Many of the PETA members are rich and could make better donations. I eat meat now, and my hemoglobin levels are back to normal. I am no longer anemic.
Plus, who would pass on a juicy turkey in Thanksgiving!!!!

I think that animals are awesome! Protecting them from suffering is great, but Im from Texas, and we love our steak. If they must be killed, do it humanely...and testing is wrong.
