Just wondering cause, you know, bread has yeast in it and yeast is technically a living organism. Ya know?

And how about honey?

Yes, we eat bread. It's only animal tissue and byproducts that we avoid.

BTW, most bread does not contain animal byproducts. The rare exceptions (you have to read the ingredients) contain milk.

It is easy to make bread without milk or eggs. Even most donuts, muffins, cakes, etc. can be made without dairy and come out great.

Also, even vegetables are living organisms....but they don't bleed, don't have parents, and don't feel emotions (as we know them).

There are a lot of reasons besides morality to become a vegetarian though. Check out the website below for environmental and health as well. Thanks!

Vegans do not eat or use products that come from animals.

All plants are living organisms. Yeast is a type of fungus and is a plant. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yeast

Many brands of bread don't contain dairy eggs or honey and are naturally vegan.

Although honey is not considered vegan, there is some debate in the vegan community as to whether of not eating honey is ethical.

Yeast doesn't have feelings like animals do. I think because of this, most vegans don't have a problem eating it.

The honey thing is a bit of a toss up. I know some "vegans" who eat it, and some who don't. Technically it's a bug-product, not and animal-product. Some research shows that again, bees don't have the capacity to be sensitive like animals to being forced into labour. Essenially honey is bee barf, so I know some don't eat it just because of this fact. The honey thing is a little bit of a gray area.

Yeast is more like a fungus than an animal. Vegans eat bread and mushrooms.

Most do not eat honey, but some feel it is rather difficult to mistreat an insect?-(

Yes, they do eat bread. You don't have to use yeast if you don't want, they have unsprouted bread and it's nice. Yeast is in everything, have you heard of wild yeast? That's how yeast was developed, some wild yeast landed on unleavened bread dough.

Plants are technically living organisms too.
Yeast does not feel pain, therefore it is perfectly OK to eat yeast. It's not an animal, it's a fungus.

Yeast is a plant cell as far as I know. Nice try though. Like they don't have a small enough choice of food...
