According to Prevention magazine, if your Triglyceride level is high, it usually means that your cholesterol count is high. If it is above 200, then usually, you need to be on some sort of medication to lower that level. If the triglyceride count is high over the long term, then it can cause some cardiac issues such as a heart attack or a stroke.

Again, according to Prevention magazine, the triglyceride levels should be below 150 to be considered normal. 150 - 199 is borderline, 200 - 499 is high and above 500 is very high.

To lower triglyceride levels, you need to reduce the amount of cholesterol and certain types of fats that you eat and exercise.
