It's highly unlikely that you would get a sexually transmitted disease (STD), such as chlamydia or genital herpes, from a toilet seat. Most STDs are transmitted only during sexual contact, either by skin-to-skin contact or through exchange of bodily fluids. The microorganisms — bacteria and viruses — that cause STDs tend to be highly sensitive to environmental conditions and can't survive outside the human body for very long.

This is a hard question. Lots of articles...50% say yes, 50% say no. This covers what information is out there.
"Environmental surfaces like toilet seats may be a source of contagion, but there is no evidence that this poses a real threat to the general population. Experts differ as to how long the virus can survive on its own. The primary cause of infection remains intimate contact." This came from Herpes.com.

This was the only creditable source I could find.
"HSV-1 and HSV-2 can be found in and released from the sores that the viruses cause, but they also are released between outbreaks from skin that does not appear to be broken or to have a sore. Generally, a person can only get HSV-2 infection during sexual contact with someone who has a genital HSV-2 infection. Transmission can occur from an infected partner who does not have a visible sore and may not know that he or she is infected.

HSV-1 can cause genital herpes, but it more commonly causes infections of the mouth and lips, so-called "fever blisters." HSV-1 infection of the genitals can be caused by oral-genital or genital-genital contact with a person who has HSV-1 infection. Genital HSV-1 outbreaks recur less regularly than genital HSV-2 outbreaks." from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
Hope this helps you. Good luck.

It sounds like your pal has some themes she needs to consult with a professional or she has some deep rooted "horror" thoughts from her very own mom pertaining to to public lavatories. have faith me, i understand! my own mom replaced into so paranoid approximately "germs" on public lavatories, that i'm now the main suitable "hooverer" of all time!!! LOL. I now and back think of i ought to quite in all probability pee status upright. : ) so long because of the fact the toddler thoroughly washes her hands afterwards and bathes on a regular basis, there is not any clarification for the mummy to abuse the toddler in that way. She is heading for urinary tract infections, irritable or overactive bladder or different issues. perhaps you need to point (or purchase for her) the little bottles of hand sanitizer. She ought to no longer basically have her toddler apply it to her hands after washing them with cleansing soap and water yet she may additionally get a paper towel and wipe her backside and legs if she is that freaked out approximately public restrooms....yet no longer permitting the toddler to bypass while nature calls is faulty. If she nevertheless refuses to permit her toddler to apply a public restroom, I advise she no longer take the toddler out in public or bypass residing house on the instant while the little female has to bypass potty.

NO WAY! you're friend is either stupid or just afraid to say she got it from having unprotected sex.

read this;
How do you get Herpes?
Herpes is spread by direct skin to skin contact. Unlike a flu virus that you can get through the air, herpes spreads by direct contact, that is, directly from the site of infection to the site of contact. For example, if you have a cold sore and kiss someone, you can transfer the virus to their mouth. Similarly, if you have active genital herpes and have vaginal or anal intercourse, you can give your partner genital herpes. Finally, if you have a cold sore and put your mouth on your partners genitals (oral sex), you can give your partner genital herpes.

When Is Herpes Most Likely To Be Spread?

Herpes is most easily spread when a sore is present, but, it is also often spread at other times too. Some people notice itching, tingling or other sensations before they see anything on their skin. These are called "Prodromal Symptoms" and they warn that virus may be present on the skin. Herpes is most likely to be spread from......

Yes, that is possible. My neighbor got herpes from a water fountain! But what you have to think about it, is: How did she sit down? Did she have a protection over the seat?

Things like that. I mean my neighbor's lips didnt even touch the fountain! But anyway, I would talk to a doctor, or a trusted family member about it, if you really want to help out your friend. Also, you can find out a LOT of information about Herpes and how to get it in the phamplets you often find in doctor's offices and the waiting rooms. I hope I helped!

Well....it is a possibility of it being true if someone with herpes sat on the toilet seat she sat on. The toilet seat could have had a large amount of bacteria on it. Every time you get ready to use a public restroom, you should wipe the toilet seat with tissue or place tissue around the toilet to sit on.

Stranger things have happened, you should contact the center for disease control, they have a toll free number listed in the phone book. It is better to know, than to visit her house, sit on her toilet and have it infect you. The commercials on tv say one out of four people have it and got it from their partner when they have no signs or symptoms. That seems like a more logical explanation.

Not likely, unless of course this was from sex in a public restroom. You would have to wipe your genitals on a toilet seat IMMEDIATELY after someone else infected with herpes wiped their genitals on the same spot. Even then its unlikely.

She's lying; she is too embarrassed to tell you the truth! You can only get herpes from someone else!! She feels that if she tells this story; it relieves her of any responsibility of admitting she was careless and had unprotected sex! You need to tell her it's okay and that she doesn't need to lie!
