If you are talking about Hep C -use condom, avoid blood (including toothbrush/razor)
Genital herpes-use condom, BUT they have found out that it can also be transmitted without any visible symptoms, its called "viral Shedding", where the skin cells slough(sp) off.
Best prevention is sustain from sex/condoms. But that is the normal answer. Also....if someone has cold sores, it can also be GENITAL herpes...but appear to be oral herpes. It can be either type of herpes, but in the different region. Such as oral herpes be on the genitals...and vice versa. Hope this helped. Tx
