Infection is possible when your white count is higher than normal, and the rest of the blood parameters (Red blood cells, hemoglobin, HCMC, MCV etc. are normal. Other diseases can also cause an increase in white blood cells. You have to look at the other lab values, and patient symptoms before making a diagnosis (fever, pain etc.). It might (endocarditis), but probably won't be related to the ecg (ekg). Beware making a diagnosis form one ecg. There are single leads, and twelve leads. Twelve leads give a more complete look at the heart and are more accurate. You should discuss the result with her cardiologist before making any decisions, as false positive results can occur from machine read ecg's.

Infection generally causes ^WBC, although diseases of the lymph and bone marrow can too. With an abnormal ECG it could be something like endocarditis, but the two do not have to be related (if that makes sense, there could be two different problems). What is the WBC count and what are the neutrophil and lymphocyte levels?

Infection causes an elevated white blood count.

an elevated white count in any patient, cardiac or otherwise usually indicates infection. It depends on which kind of white cell is elevated as to whether or not it is a localized or systemic infection.
