some doctors like patients to re-test their blood for HIV and other STD's as although the test originally said you were negative, the virus may not have been in your system long enough to be detected.

The HIV virus can take up to 1 - 2 months to be detected by blood tests. Doctors will initally run a test when you believe you have been infected, and another 6 months later to ensure the original diagnosis was the correct one.

As with all diagnosis methods, the blood testing HIV procedures are not perfect! For your health and the saftey of those you are sexually active with, the second test is high recommended. Until then, i would high recommend having safe sex!

You would have been tested for HIV not AIDS. Most people will have detectable antibodies on an HIV ELISA test after 25 days if they are infected. 94% will after 8 weeks. 97% after 90 days. The remaining 3% may take up to 6 months. These folks probably have some type of immune disorder that would cause a slower immune response. If you were tested after 90 days and haven't engaged in risky behavior then you don't need to be retested.

What do you mean when you say STD test? You need to be more specific. Different "STD tests" have different window periods. Without being more specific (Herpes, etc.) I can't answer that questions.

Yes you do!! you need to have the second one done 3 months later and then one at 6 months. this is for the aids test I'm not sure about the std?.Trust me don't let any body tell you different.i see an infectious disease doctor for hep c.and my doctor is real strong on this a lot of his clients had one test done it came up neg and then 3 months later it came up pos.I just had my 3rd one taken and its neg. so please if you think you might have it then get tested 3 times because take it from me I know how it feels to be infected by some one who just dint care.not with aids but with hep c. it hurts more then one person remember all there friends and family would be effected by some one getting such a bad disease.even a std could be life threatening or could cause you not to be able to have children so please get checked if your worried .? if you dont practice safe sex then please dont have it at all.
I wish you the best of luck you are in my prayers.

Signs and tests
HIV ELISA/Western blot may show positive HIV antibody. If it is negative and the patient has definite risk factor for HIV infection, the test should be repeated in 3 months.
Lower-than-normal CD4 cell count may show suppression of the immune system by the virus.
HIV RNA viral load indicates the amount of virus in the bloodstream.
Blood differential may show abnormalities.
Please see the webpages for more details on HIV and HIV infection.

Why do you keep asking this question? Ask a doctor. Don't rely on people's opinions on this site. You don't always get the correct answers.
