Really, don't go along with Gypsy, there are some people that have a bad odor to them and cannot wash it off. They have a problem with oxidizing the acids in there sweat and breath. I've only dealt with one person like this. He stayed single due to this condition and really, you couldn't get near him especially when he was sweating.
I don't know if there's help. If he's tried a doctor than what else is there. Either leave him alone or you go it alone. I'm sure he'll understand. Why suffer, ha may not speak to you again but ?

You should take antihistamines and get a fresh air supply so you don't have to smell this. It may be more effective to get another room mate or get your current one to the doctor for investigation of the problem.

Change room mates. Period! But if you feel you can help her, try approaching her courteously and mention it to her. Buy good shower gel and/or perfume for her. Encourage her to bath at least twice a day. I am afraid it may take you a lot of patience to achieve this or to help her.

If you can't make him take care of himself (and you probably will not be able to) maybe try putting a little vicks vapor rub under your nose so that is all you will smell or buy a bunch of Airwick or Glade scented items. They have all kinds of plug ins or scented glass, etc.

Drop subtle hints by spraying room with air freshner whenever yo room mate is in...if if he/she doesn't take the hint....drag their butt to the shower (make sure it's a cold shower to so they don't forget)

try talking, I would prefer a friend telling me that I stink, than maybe a date or someone I really like.
If this doesn't work try changing room mate

Is he showering before bed? And applying deodorant before bed? Is he male? If you are both guys, I can't imagine that you can't just tell him. I hear guys insulting each other all the time. My husband sweats at night, even after showering and applying more deodorant, the sheets are stained with dirty sweat! YUCK! and I tell him all the time! Just tell him!

Get the Ionic Breeze air filter and set it close to his bed. Surround his bed with Renuzit air fresheners. Sprinkle him with baking soda while he sleeps.......
I'm sorry, but this is so funny --- how did you get yourself into this mess?

You could make it a point to leave your personal hygiene products sitting out and use them in front of him. He might get the hint.
