Hello.
I have some dessert recepies that take gelatin sheets/leaf.
Is there any substitute for the gelatin?
Where in East London can i find a substitude for it?

I don't eat meat,fish,chiken but i do eat eggs and dairy products (if this helps somehow)

I've just heard about something called Agar-Agar....or is it just Agar...?Is this the substitute for gelatine?

Where can i buy this product?

I guess some answerers don't get the link with posting a question in the V&V section, why they still recommend you use dead cows baffles me.

Agar Agar sheets can be used, i'm sure i 've seen them in Sainsburys or COOP. Its made from sea vegetable matter. Just check the packet for veggie-friendly to make sure the processing does use animals

alternatively health food shops such as Barretts or Julian Graves might sell it.

You can use a seaweed product called agar agar instead of gelatine. Try your local health food store. Alternatively, try arrowroot, again at a health food store.

go to a shopping centre that sell indian products and ask for powder china grass. it works just as well and holds the dish as required you also get it in different flavour better known brands is bluebird.

you can get vegetarian gelatine in sainsburys lol just ask someone for it i think its near the cooking section

gelatine powder/ granules are usually availble from big supermarkets. be careful when mixing these. They are a bit harder to use than the sheets, as they tend to clump together and form lumps. mix well, while adding

if it states that you need gelatine, then u need to use gelatine as this is what forms its base. there are granuals that you can use but u had better becarefull to make sure that is disolves proberly, gelatine can be purchassed from tescos and other supermarkets
