I'm not a large person and the same thing happened to me this summer.....the doctor said it was irregular beats.......he never explained the fast beating, i was on a monitor for a few hours......he attributed it to stress, and told me to see a cardiologist....

Having a fast heart beat when waking up is normal. In fact for your heart to be beating fast is normal at times that are appropiate such as when you're doing something strenious, exercise, waking up, times where you get excited. that's normal. a lot of people get this, i get this. However, if you feel that you're getting fast heart rates constantly, you should see your doctor to see if there's anything up. hope that helps.

A fast heart rate at rest or after sleep is NOT normal. I suggest you go to the doctor and ask him to send you to a cardiologist. A heart rate should be fast after EXERTION, NOT rest.
