Because there are 3Million commercials. There are BAD commentators. Because they do not report on ALL of the drivers, if your driver is having an off day, forget about knowing where he is our how he is doing, because they surely aren't going to tell you!!! He could have made the trip HOME and be sitting in his living room, drinking a coca cola, before you find out how and where he finished the race, IF he was lucky enough to do so. That is unless of course your driver is "IN THE CHASE", then you will know every time he sneezes !!! Aren't you glad you asked this question???

Real race cars don't have fenders. and they also turn left and right. Try watching some F1 or Champ Car races.
