Crystal lite is good - nice flavors available. Also, iced tea but use artificial sweetener instead of sugar. Any tea that doesn't have sugar in it, Lipton makes a 'diet' mix that's ok, but not like real tea. Coffee, of course, but no sugar, artificial sweetener only.
I like a 'milk cocktail' myself: Large glass of COLD milk, about a tablespoon of vanilla and 2 or 3 packets of artificial sweetener (I use nutrasweet, but any that don't contain sugar are good).
The hard part is going to be getting used to artificial sweeteners! When I first had to cut out sugar, I thought I was going to die without my Dr. Pepper! I now drink diet coke mostly because I never liked original coke, so it doesn't bother me that it 'doesn't taste right'. If you're in an area where Kroger has a store, their store brand diet drinks are excellent, and about 1/3 the price of name brand. The colas are more like pepsi than coke, however. Their cherry diet cola tastes, to me, like real Dr. Pepper, so it's been a treat!

A diabetic diet is very similar to the Kimkins diet. We recommend members drink 0 cal flavored waters, Crystal Light, iced tea sweetened with Equal.
If your husband drinks alcohol, that should be fairly rare. Even low carb beers have carbs and alcohol antagonizes blood sugar levels. A wine spritzer (half wine, half diet 7-up) is a good balance.

Best bet is for any drinks with the word DIET in them or LITE. The fanta and 7up with a Z is also sugar free.
Be wary of some juices as they may also have quite a high sugar content

It depends on how well his blood sugar is controlled. alcohol should be very limited. Most fruit drinks should be drank cautiously and be part of His daily sugar/nutrition intake. More important, I believe is his weight and amount of exercise he gits. a small weight loss can make a big difference in blood sugar,at least it did for myself. hop[e this helps. Remember check the labels and look out for glucose, frutcose and other words that end in 'cose' if its one of the first ingredient's listed on the label it probably high in sugar. Moderation is the key!

Any thing he wants in moderation provided he takes his medication and tests his blood sugar levels regularly. One drink (alcholic) won't do him any harm but coffe with doughnuts or candy.would be a no no. .Not the coffee on its own though. I have had type 2 diabetes for several years and have learnt to keep it under control. Talk to a dietician and follow the advice you are given.

he can still have any brad tea or coffee he will just have to use something like Splenda or Equal instead of sugar. Also he can use Half and Half in his coffee if the splenda or equal don't do it for him. Water is always a good idea. 2% milk is also good. Avoid fruit juices as they are mostly sugar.
