The high end of the normal range for glucose if 110. Any thing above that moves you into the abnormal range. 124 is not diabetic but unless you lose weight or change your diet it might continue to rise and put you into the 140 range. To get a reasonable glucose level you must fast for 12 hours and be retested.

The normal range for blood sugar is 80 - 120. Your sugar level will be highest 2 hours after eating, but the goal is to keep that under 141.

A number a things can affect your blood sugar levels, including stress, exercise, etc. If you had a one-time reading of 124, don't worry about it. If you're continuously over 140, see a doctor and get it checked out.

124 is a little high, but I don't think it's anything to be concerned about. Even healthy people experience higher than normal blood sugars - as long as the blood sugar comes back to the normal range, everything should be okay. My niece checked her blood sugar once and it was over 400. She wen to the doctor a couple of days later and got tested for diabetes, and she didn't have it. Stress can definitely wreak havoc on anyone's blood sugar!!

I am also a diabetic myself. and with being a diabetic since the young age of 14 yrs old. my #'s have been all over the place. they say it's best to try to stay between 70 and 140. 140 for your father being a diabetic, you did not say if that was after eating, if so that was alright, if it was a fasting blood sugar. {meaning not eating for least 6 hrs.} YES 140 would be on the high side. and, with yourself, Was that a fasting sugar? or after eating ?
Please keep in mind with your father being a diabetic, you need to be check every now and then also. @ different times~
GOOD LUCK @ YA , YOUNG LADY

140 is somewhat high. 124 is good.......on the high side, but it depends on how long since you ate or drank. The normal changes from year to year it seems. Right now where I work ......70-110 is considered normal. But, if you check your blood sugar after eating, it's going to be higher. It's best to do a fasting (right when you wake up and before eating) and also before meals. Good luck.

The 110 number is for a fasting glucose. If you are concerned, test yourself again in the morning before breakfast.

Diabetes can be hereditary, so keep your weight under control, and check your blood sugar periodically.
