There has been a mind-control program regarding second-hand smoke instigated by the controllers of the medical industry.
They are struggling to hide the fact that vaccinations are killing people, and they put it down to second hand smoke and sun bathing.
Second hand smoke has far less effect that the pollution from a passing car, and is certainly far less dangerous than vaccination.

BE SMARTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE!!!

Make descisions based on scientific fact. Yes it is undisputable that first hand smoking will kill you. However, the research pointing at the harmful effects of second hand smoke are very poor even at best. After disgarding all research done by the tobacco industry, and interest groups on the other side of the fence, my studies are inconclusive. One study (I believe it was at UCLA) looked at the rate of cancer in non-smoking spouses of smokers. The increased risk of cancer was insignificant. I am not saying smoking is not harmful, but I am saying that places like my home state of Ohio, who want to pass constitutional ammendments about this issue, should probably do some research first.

Finally the strongest argument against a smoking ban, and it has nothing to do with smoking and health. We are a capitalist nation, which means we choose which businesses we interact with, AND work for (protecting employees is a big argument for a smoking ban, however Adam Smith clearly states in his theories: we choose who we work for just as we choose who we buy from). If you are a concerned individual you will not eat at poorly ventilated restraunts. If enough people are concerned due to strong evidence regarding the effects of second hand smoke, the business will have to change its policies to remain competetive. The public will decide this issue in the end anyways, we dont need big government to force upon us and take away our freedom be stupid Americans.

I live in Louisiana and after the first of the year smoking in public places will be banned. Although, I think it is different in every state. I think it is a great idea and hopefully more people will opt for quitting. But I guess I am a little biased since I am a non-smoker and a respiratory therapist.

Well, I do not think people should infect you with smoke that you do not want to be infected with, but if they take away rights where will it stop? I dont smoke, many respiratory therapists do, but it comes down to a right, if they take away a right now, why not the right to say, "free speech" or something else, I think it sends us down a slippery slope.

I wish they would bann smoking outside my workplace (samll video store) all these punks stand outside & make it impossible for us to keep the doors open on nice days. Even when we keep the doors closed the smoke still comes in and kills everyone in the store. I called the police department and asked if there was any bann on smoking certain distances outside businesses and they said only outside schools and govornment biuldings did this rule apply. That really sucks they should do it for all businesses! For local info check with police department!

As a bartender, I don't see anything to be thankful about the fact that you self righteous bullying twits went ahead and bullied patrons away, for your ACTUAL WHINNING SELF SATISFACTIONS! You DEMANDED and bitched about smokers in a bar, to which they have done NO WRONG to ANY OF YOU, but you used the air, despited our noticeable filtrations systems that we spent more than enough to have installed to satisfy your selfish UNSATISFACTION... All you cared about was to find ANY excuse to get the smokers out. And after a few days when it became law, WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU PEOPLE NOW??? NO, I don't see any of you non-smoking complacent losers in the bar at all. To top it off, these smokers were far more courteous, than you people were to them!
You know what else? a lot of my patrons are people with great wealth, and they smoke... Because of people like YOU, they don't come as often, if not, at all... And you have the audacity to tell me about being thankful??? Why don't you work behind the bar and tell me how thankful you'd be in an empty establishment, your patrons are outside and your tips are low... You people can't even spend for a beer and your tips are cheaper than the cost of a gumball. And yet, after YOUR whining about not being able to go to a bar because of smokers, you don't even show your face after bullying to get your way! Where the hell are you now??? I don't see you around! Maybe that's where I should be thankful to you, because I wouldn't have to worry about you selfish anal retentive idiots getting a bottle cracked over your head for the trouble you've caused, personally and economically... You stupid little hypocrite!!!

I think the non-smokers have catered to the smokers too long responding to the person who said smokers have catered to the non-smokers too long. Smokers pollute the air with burning pesticides and nicotine, making the air unsafe for anyone to breath. I have had asthma since I was 9 months old, thank you very much, from breathing secondhand smoke from my father smoking. I almost died with it, and I now have a disability for the rest of my life. My mother is disabled as well, and my grandmother died from complications of secondhand smoke because of my grandfather. My grandfather died of complications of emphysema, and my father died of cancer. So if smokers think it does not hurt anyone but themselves, they are wrong. It hurts their children, spouses, co-workers, people who are dining in the restaurants, waitresses, and anyone else that comes in contact with it, increasing our chances of developing heart disease, cancer, and respiratory disease. Houston, Texas has banned smoking, and so has Galveston, Texas. And guess what, the businesses did not go bankrupt, because now non-smokers can go in and enjoy clean air to breath without choking on the smoke from the smokers at the next table. Life is good. I do not care how many thumbs down I get from smokers, you can all go to he!! because I now have my right to breath air free from your stinking cigarette, pipe and cigar smoke. If I decide to breath burning pesticides and nicotine, it should be my choice to breath it, not yours.

I am HAPPY to say I live in Florida A NO SMOKING STATE AND IT IS WONDERFUL.

Now we non smokers just have to walk through a cloud to go into a building. All the smokers have to smoke outside.

It is truly a blessing.

I hope it's banned in all public places like restaurants, stadiums, etc. We've put up with it for far too long.

It's happening in lots of places. This is a local issue though so go to your state, or city, or county's government website to find your local answer.
