I went vegetarian after being exposed to the real horrors of how animals we eat live. What exposed me: PETA's "Go Vegetarian!" pamphlet. Look up PETA's website and on the way check out some pictures of what the animals are going through their entire lives. It'll surely not make you wanna eat another disgusting chicken (or any meat) again.
For the love of animals, do it.

As for other people? It's their life and their choice. Personally I am a vegetarian and I was not only upset with the visual image you saw and described but with the uncaring posts from non vegetarians. I am a first gen. vegetarian and although I love spending dinners with the whole family. I am disgusted when they put the meat on the table. Cut or whole it disgusts me but it's my decision to be vegetarian and my beliefs that have changed my outlook on slaughtering and eating animals. I don't eat flesh of any kind even fish. But your neighbor does and it's his right to. You need to remember that you made an informed healthy choice. You, I and countless others are in the minority and being in a minority is always a hard thing because people in the majority often have a need to defend their right to eat meat. Some say it's in the bible, some that if we didn't eat meat than we'd be overrun by animals! The gist of it is that you have to accept that people are going to do what they want and you just have to work hard at accepting it.
Sometimes when I have meals with the family. I say a silent prayer for the dead animal they're all eating. It's difficult and I sympathies but it's something you either have to deal with or try to overlook it.
I hope this helps and I am sorry you had to see that.
Write me if this has helped or if you have any other questions!

I don't exactly believe that it is wrong to eat animals, but I am a vegetarian. I am especially passionate about seeing people eat veal and other young meat that has not grown to adulthood, or eating tons af beef (don't even get me started on the cruelty of the beef market), and especially pork (such a toxic and dirty animal inside, why would anyone want to ingest those toxins?). But, ALAS, each day I go to restaurants, stores, etc, and there is all that meat.
Part of a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle is leading by example. The earth has much to offer, but most people who are meat-eaters can't imagine a plate of broccoli and mashed potatoes without a big slab of "whatever" in the middle of the plate. You alone will not change your neighbor's ideas, but you can influence him to mafe better choices in his lifestyle and for the world. Many people do not have quams about hunting, fishing, etc, because they do not know any different. Are you friends with your neighbor? Make a dish you really like that is vegan/vegetarian, and don't tell them what it is, and just give it to them one day. I bet they'll eat it and love it!
Changing the world means doing it one person at a time, even if it is a bit awkward and intimidating at first.
Good luck!

Unfortunately, it's going to be really hard to try and convince your neighbor that killing animals for sport is wrong, and that eating animals is unnecessary, unhealthy, and cruel. Just try not to watch as he's cleaning the dead deer.
As for becoming a vegetarian, it really isn't that difficult. I gave up meat 10 years ago and never regretted it. There are endless meals that you can eat as a vegetarian. You might want to check out Peta's website they've got plenty of ideas for how to become a vegetarian, what to eat, etc. They've also got links to other helpful websites, information about how to stay healthy, etc. More and more peole are becoming vegetarians, and so companies and restaurants are catering to them more than even a few years ago. It's really not difficult for me to eat out at restaurants (or at home). Good luck to you.

As a vegan I do find it hard to look at animals killed that way, but believe it or not I have less problem with your neighbor than you might imagine.
At least he went out and killed his own meat rather than letting someone else do his dirty work for him. Those are the true hypocrites, because most meat eaters would never dream of actually killing an animal.
If you couldn't kill it, you shouldn't eat it.
For help being a vegetarian, check out the website below. Good luck!

PETA has a lot of great resources for vegetarians. And I'm sure they can help with a balanced diet. Your doctor is also a good source. I'm not a vegetarian, but I eat very llittle meat. What I've done is gorge myself on veggie burgers. They're healthy and mentally I think I'm eating a hamburger.I average 2 burgers a day.

I don't understand what you need help with. You've made a choice to not eat meat. Your neighbor has made a choice to eat meat. What's the problem?

I understand your feelings - unfortunately, there is two sides to this coin.
At least your neighbor is not killing for "sport".
Sorry I'm not of any help.
