IMHO, no, they don't. I'm from the Midwest, and the problem is that most places seem to use the same sauce for everything they fix. I've eaten the real deal, and it doesn't all taste the same. I think they're trying to please American tastes and serve what most people think of as "authentic."

I know of only a couple of places that make good Mexican food. But that's because the cook and owners are Hispanic, don't cater to what they think Americans want, and import a lot of their spices from back home. Also, they serve different regional dishes, and that gives the menu some variety that a lot of places don't have.

I found that the only places that serve decent, authentic Mexican food are the places run and owned by Mexican families.

I've run into a few family-owned and operated restaurants who serve authentic Mexican food, and they are WONDERFUL. I do have to admit that all of the places with the best food are owned by Mexicans, as well.

I have no idea what they are serving at Taco Bell and ChiChi's, but - it is NOT Mexican food....

I have found good Mexican food in Oklahoma, New York, and Chicago just to name a few places. There are one or two small places in Philadelphia, and DC that are acceptable.

Of course! It all depends on where you go, obviously chain places are pretty bad but here in Minnesota we have tons of great mexican-owned restaurants, as well as bakeries, meat markets and grocery stores.
