Well done! If you've really not smoked for 4 months you have QUIT. The cravings are psychological; you're used to having something in your hands and mouth. You may miss the flavour of tobacco but the physical "need" is long gone.
Realise this; you've cracked it. And tell yourself you have no need to go back.
Figure out how much you were spending a week on ciggies and save it up for a month to give yourself a treat of something that you really enjoy. You'll be surprised once you do the math at how much money you were burning every month.

Really you want to forget about cigarettes altogether. Until you put them behind you and get on with your life they will always be there tormenting you.
I do know what you are going through, I stopped 4 years ago using positive thinking (I told myself I was a non-smoker). The craving passed after 3 or 4 months, so you should now be over the worst. Good luck, you will notice the benefit both healthwise and financially when you succeed.

I haven't smoked for 4 months and 4 days the cravings should start to wear off soon. I don't crave anymore just every now and again i say to my partner i could really smoke a cigarette then the thought goes. Be strong it does get better.

you never stop the cravings. I had quit for a year and a half and started up again because of the cravings. I have quit for another year now but cannot stop the cravings especially when I smell someone smoking on the street.

It depends upon how long you have smoked, and whether you are surrounded by smokers. Your physical need ended after a week. Your psychological need is still being felt. I smoked for 17 years before I quit. It took a while, but now I can't stand the thought of it and will never go back.

It does get easier, believe me. I gave up after reading ''The Easy Way to Stop Smoking' by Allan Carr and i never wanted to put another ciggy in my mouth ever again. I had smoked for 20 years.

The cravings should get easier to handle any time now and you will get them less often.
Hang in there, this will be the best thing that you could ever do for yourself.

Good luck.

The cravings should slowly ease up but they may never go away completely. You just have to constantly fight them. I quit two years ago and still occasionally want one. I just make a conscious decision not to go buy some. Good job so far and keep up the good work!! -:)

seven years... depressing huh?
Sorry, I heard it's seven years, but the cravings aren't half as bad. Its a wierd one, some people smoke for ages and don't get addicted and some poeple try two and are hooked, so how long it'll take to stop craving is total guess work!

Try doing something at the times you would have had a cigarette. It is just a case of breaking that habit. Like if you had a ciggy after meals go for a walk or do something to keep your mind busy, it will pass just stick in and well done so far.

Depends on you.
Some addicts can and do stop but never lose the "taste" for drug of choice. Some stop and are like they were never addicted in the first place (lucky sods).
Someone once said "There's no such thing as an ex-alcoholic, just an alocoholic who doesn't drink anymore". The mentality to be an addict remains.
Congratulations on giving up though - you'll be cleaner, smell nicer, healthier and richer.
Don't stop stopping, you may be giving up for the rest of your life but it'll be worth it.
