You are mistaken.

The shifting of breath has nothing to do with temprature.

Its absolute normal.Don't worry about that.

Actually, one side of your nose is active at all times, it has nothing to do with the temp. For example, for a short length of time, the right side of you nose will be the one you breathe in and out of and then it will switch to the left.
I don't remember where I heard this, and cannot find a link to prove it out for you, sorry. Check with your doc if you need further proof.

if it gets block on the other side and sometimes it flows to the other side making it blocked on that side the mucus of course
