Hi, Im feeling ya.. I used to go to the hospital and be admitted about every 3 months for a few days. Even the treatments in the ER didnt stop the wheezing. HOWEVER.... Last November my DR. prescribed a new medicine for me. Its called Advair discus. You just inhale on this little disc morning and night and nothing else. No pills, breathing treatments, inhalers, and no wheezing!! Im telling ya, it is a miracle drug. I have been wheeze free for a year now. For me thats incredible. I havent even had to use my inhaler once. Ask your doctor...It really works...really Good luck and I wish you health. Debi

My 15-year-old daughter has asthma - and it's no laughing matter when her inhaler runs out. For those who aren't familiar with prescription procedures, unless the original prescription was written with refills on it, there ISN'T any running off to the pharmacy to get a new inhaler, at least not at night, after the doctor's office has closed and there isn't any way for the pharmacy to call for refill authorization.

Shall I assume you (the asthmatic) don't have a nebulizer in the house, with vials of Albuterol? (If you don't - and I don't know why you wouldn't - PLEASE GET ONE ASAP) Using that nebulizer has been a real lifesaver when the inhaler has run dry.

OK, no inhaler, no nebulizer? Get into the bathroom, close the door and window, turn on the hot water in the tub and let it run (with the drain CLOSED) until the room fills up with steam. Sit yourself down anywhere you are comfortable and concentrate on breathing in as much of the moist air in the room as possible. CONCENTRATE ON YOUR BREATHING.

If, after you have done this, you still don't feel that you are breathing more easily and are wheezing to the point where you don't think you can wait till tomorrow for the pharmacy/doctor route, then you may very well have to go to the nearest ER for a nebulizer treatment. I know it's a pain in the @ss, but, you know full well that your airways aren't going to open by themselves.

Be smart. Don't wait too long. And get that nebulizer!!!

I feel your pain. I've had asthma for 14 years now and have seen several doctors. The truth is, there is no known cure for asthma at the moment. But the symptoms can be prevented. It really depends on what causes your brother's asthma. Mine is usually dust and hot weather. But I think the universal method is using the control inhaler.

I cured my Asthma the natural way?

I have found that peppermint candy or a wintergreen chewing gum or something similar helps , the best thing to do is try to relax and don't let yourself get stressed. Over the counter Allergy medicine works too if your symptoms are not to bad.

I have used hard candy like peppermint, hot cocoa/tea, or even a hot pepper (clears out everything) to stave off an attack. But seriously, you should always have a spare or even an OTC inhaler/tablets.
