First of all I have Hypothyroidism and I was diagnosed at the age of 12 so yes it is very possible..The Blood test is not bad I promise and if you do have it..All you will have to do is most likley take a pill for the rest of your life..Its called synthroid and its a real small pill however It usually takes about 6 months to get the right dosage to where it will work but its really not that bad and if that is what you have and you have to start taking medication for it trust me you will feel like a whole diffrent person.

If you don't like your doctor, why not get another one?
I know someone with hypothyroidism - she has a list of symptoms that tell her when she needs to take her medication.
There is nothing to be afraid of from a needle - a pinch & it's over almost before you knew it happened.
Please do not trouble yourself with pointless fears - there are effective medications that could help your body run better, if that's what you have. The only way to be sure may be to check the blood. One quick stick & all done - no problem.
Good Luck!

They draw your blood and send it to the lab to test your TSH levels. Normal is .5 to 1.5 Anything higher means you have an underactive thyroid. In most cases hypothyroidism doesn't happen until later in life...after you have had children or the onset of menopause. It is also hereditary...but there is always a possibility. It's best to just take the test, so you can ease your mind.

please tell your parents about ALL of your symptoms because they are no laughing matter. and if it turns out you don't have a thyroid problem then don't give up, ask what else can help you.
i know you asked a question a few days ago about symptoms of depression. people on the internet can give you ideas, opinions and information but they can't help you get well. your doctor is obligated to help you find out what's wrong, don't worry about whether he/she likes you or not -- your health is their job for heaven's sake. the blood test is a small thing to do to find out if your thyroid is the problem, but be prepared that this might not be the answer and don't give up.
good luck and get well.

It is possible to have thyroid problems at your age. It depends on how your body has grown. And they wont laugh at you, hypothyroidism is a very serious disease. I have it and it really takes alot out of you.
And you will have to get blood drawn, but relax, they only stick you once and then they use different tubes to get different samples to send to the lab.

just ask for the blood test. If he laughs just stare at him and ask him if he is laughing because you are young or that you are requesting a test about your health.
Also tell him that laughing at a patient is Very unprofessional, that he is uncool.

very possible.....listen to music or do something to distract you from getting a little stick to draw some blood to run the tests....
